Working Together, the Right Way

Fortis Public Adjusters + Contractors/Vendors

Respecting Roles. Enhancing Results. Protecting the Client—Legally and Professionally.

  • When public adjusters and contractors operate with integrity, professionalism, and a client-first mindset, the result is a powerful alliance that supports the insured at every step.
  • At Fortis Public Adjusters, we proudly welcome collaboration with contractors who share one core priority: ensuring that the policyholder is fully restored to pre-loss condition—based on what is afforded to them by their insurance policy and the laws that protect them.

Understanding Legal Boundaries

  • Contractors play a vital role in helping policyholders rebuild and restore their lives after a loss. Their expertise in assessing damage, providing repair solutions, and executing restoration work is essential to returning a property to pre-loss condition. At Fortis Public Adjusters, we deeply respect and value this role.
  • However, every professional must operate within their legal scope. In nearly every state, it is illegal for anyone other than a licensed public adjuster or attorney to negotiate the value of an insurance claim or coverage terms on behalf of the insured. While contractors are critical to the process, they may not speak to the carrier on the client’s behalf regarding settlement terms unless they hold the proper license. Doing so, even with good intentions, can jeopardize the claim and expose the client—and the contractor—to unnecessary risk.
  • These laws are protections. They exist to ensure that every professional involved in a claim operates within their licensed role, safeguarding the policyholder’s rights during a critical time. When contractors and public adjusters respect those boundaries and collaborate with integrity, the result is a stronger, more secure path to recovery for the client

At Fortis Public Adjusters, ethical conduct and professionalism aren’t just part of what we do—they define how we operate. We respect the law, honor the client, and value every professional involved in the recovery effort.
